Welcome to Makestuff
This blog itself is an ongoing experiment in building a site layout and publication workflow that I actually like.
My current notion of How Things Should Work says most people arrive at a site through deep links to a specific page, and that home pages aren't nearly as exciting as they were in the 1990s. I do like having easy access to a whole collection of work though, so I've rolled the function of 'archive' into the home page (see below).
At the same time, I know people like to be able to link to a page that shows the latest content (or they will if my audience ever exceeds three friends and thirty-nine search bots), so I've created a page that always shows the latest post for exactly that purpose.
(Subtlety: I haz it)
I've also created an RSS feed, partly for the convenience of those who want an easy way of knowing when the latest post has gone up, and partly for the experience of working feed generation into my workflow.
